🏥 As an Optometrist
Step 1 — Create your clinic account
Go to your site’s Clinic Portal page -https://optometryskills.com/vts-home/ . Click Register Clinic tab and fill in:
- Your name, username, email
- Clinic name (shown to patients)
- Password
You’ll be taken straight to your clinic dashboard.
Step 2 — Your clinic dashboard (4 sections)
Overview — shows active patient count, sessions today/this week, average compliance across all patients, and a feed of recent patient activity.
Patients — your main working area. All patients appear in a table with their VA, diagnosis, visit dates, next appointment, and compliance. Use the search bar to find patients quickly.
Exercises — browse all 28 exercises with their badges (Clinic Only, RG Glasses, Sports Vision, Amblyopia).
Settings — update your clinic name, brand colour, and billing plan.
Step 3 — Add a patient
- Go to Patients → click + Add Patient
- Fill in the form — two sections:
Personal Details:
- Full name, email (required — invite is sent here)
- Phone, date of birth, gender
Clinical Details:
- Diagnosis (dropdown)
- VA Right eye, VA Left eye (e.g. 6/6, 20/20)
- IOP Right, IOP Left
- Date of first visit
- Next appointment date
- Clinical notes (private — patient never sees these)
- Click Add & Send Invite — the patient gets an email with a personal invite link automatically.
Step 4 — Prescribe exercises
Either click Prescribe from the patient list, or open the patient’s detail view and click 📋 Update Prescription.
In the prescription modal:
- Tick the exercises you want to assign
- For each ticked exercise, set frequency (1×/wk to daily) and starting level (1–3)
- Pay attention to the badges — 🏥 Clinic Only exercises should only be ticked if you plan to supervise them in-clinic; 🔴🟢 means the patient needs anaglyph glasses
Step 5 — Patient detail view
Click any patient row to open their full record. You’ll see:
- Personal Details card — name, email, phone, DOB, gender
- Clinical Findings card — diagnosis, VA OD/OS, IOP, date of visit, next appointment, notes
- Weekly sessions chart — 8-week bar chart
- Quick Stats — total sessions, supervised vs home breakdown
- Current Prescription table — each exercise has an ⛶ Open Full Screen button
- Score Trends — per-exercise line charts
- Session Log — every session with date, exercise, duration, score, reps, level, and whether it was supervised or home
To update patient details (VA, next appointment, etc.) click the ✏️ Edit Details button.
Step 6 — Running a supervised in-clinic session
- Open the patient’s detail page
- In the Current Prescription table, click ⛶ Open Full Screen next to any exercise
- A full-screen overlay opens on your screen — hand the device to the patient or use a second screen
- If the exercise needs 🔴🟢 glasses, the overlay shows a reminder to put them on first
- The exercise runs exactly as it would for the patient
- Click ✅ Log & Complete Session when done — it’s saved automatically as a supervised session in their record
- Click Exit Session or use the Fullscreen button to return
🏥 Clinic/Log Only exercises (Brock String, Barrel Card, Aperture Rule, Marsden Ball, Patching Log) are designed to be run this way only — they won’t appear in the patient’s home exercise list.
Step 7 — Monitor progress
Back in the patient detail, the session log and trend charts update after every session. The patient table shows compliance % in green/yellow/red so you can spot who isn’t practising at a glance.
To export all session data click ↓ CSV — downloads a spreadsheet with every session logged.
👁 As a Patient
Step 1 — Accept the invite
Your optometrist adds you and you receive an email with a personal invite link. Click it — it takes you to the dashboard page where you either log in (if you already have an account) or create a new Patient account.
Once logged in with that link your account is automatically linked to your clinic.
If you registered first and then got the invite link, you can also paste your invite code manually on the waiting screen.
Step 2 — Your dashboard
After logging in you land on your personal dashboard showing:
- Greeting + today’s date
- Your diagnosis (set by your optometrist)
- KPI row — current streak 🔥, total sessions, sessions this week, compliance %
- Weekly activity bar chart
- Your exercise plan — the exercises your optometrist prescribed
- Recent sessions — last 8 sessions with duration, score, and level
Step 3 — Doing an exercise
- Find your exercise in the plan grid and tap Start →
- The Brief screen opens — it shows:
- What the exercise is for and why it helps
- Your available levels (locked levels show 🔒 — complete Level 1 five times to unlock Level 2)
- Full step-by-step instructions
- Any important notices — yellow banner for Clinic Only (means do this with your optometrist), pink banner for 🔴🟢 Red-Green Glasses Required
- Select your level and tap Begin
Step 4 — During the exercise
The exercise screen shows:
- A live timer top-left
- Your score or rep count as you go
- An ✅ Complete Session button at the bottom — tap this when you’re done (or when the time is up)
Each exercise works differently:
- Smooth Pursuit / Zig-Zag — follow the dot with your eyes, head still
- Saccades / Reaction Time — tap targets as fast as possible
- Vergence exercises — converge/diverge and click the canvas to count cycles
- Dichoptic / Worth 4-Dot / RG Bar — put on your red-green glasses first
- Hart Chart / DEM — click letters or numbers in order
- Contrast Sensitivity — click Yes/No whether you see the grating
- Sports Vision exercises — react to targets, follow moving objects, track multiple dots
Step 5 — After each session
The completion screen shows:
- Duration, score, and reps for that session
- Your current streak
- 🏆 Personal Best banner if you beat your previous score
- Arrow showing how you compared to last session (↑ better / ↓ lower)
- 🎉 Level unlocked notification if you’ve done 5 sessions at current level
- A clinical note explaining why this session matters
Tap ← Dashboard to go back or Do Again to repeat immediately.
Step 6 — Building your streak
Come back every day. The streak counter on your dashboard tracks consecutive days with at least one session. Your optometrist can see your compliance % and session history, so consistent practice between appointments matters.
Things to know as a patient
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Exercise says 🏥 Clinic Only | Do it at your next appointment — don’t attempt at home |
| Exercise says 🔴🟢 RG Glasses | Put on red-green anaglyph glasses before tapping Begin |
| You see double during vergence exercises | This is normal (physiological diplopia) — it means both eyes are working |
| An exercise is too hard | Stay at Level 1 — you unlock Level 2 after 5 sessions |
| You forgot your invite link | Log in, then paste your invite code on the waiting screen |
| You want to sign out | Tap Sign out in the top-right corner of your dashboard |
